Self service sandbags are available at the following locations across the Cassowary Coast:
Mill Rd, Mourilyan (Old Mill) – Bags & sand available
Leichhardt St, Goondi Bend (Footy field top area) – Bags & sand available
Frogs Hollow, South Mission Beach – Sand available, bags arriving 5:
Margaret St, Silkwood (Old SES Shed) – Bags available, sand available.
Important: The SES is not currently operating a community station.
How to fill and use sandbags properly
Fill bags halfway to three-quarters —this makes them easier to stack and more effective.
Fold the top over and place the bag with the folded side facing the water.
Stack in a staggered brick pattern for the best seal.
Use plastic sheeting under the sandbags for extra protection.
