''As the operator of the Dunk Island Spit we are pleased to announce that the Dunk Island Spit Campground is set to open on 15 July 2024. As part of our continued investment in the Dunk Island Spit, we have already completed the upgrade of the amenities block and BBQ facilities. Major replanting has also been undertaken to improve privacy for campers. Once opened, traditional camping will be available on the north side of the Dunk Island Spit, and glamping will be available on the south side."

"The owner of the operator, Annie Cannon-Brookes, is excited to be delivering these works, and has fast tracked these so that the community and tourists alike can once again continue to enjoy this iconic location.
"It was very disappointing for the staff of the operator as the Dunk Island Spit Campground was ready to open for the busy Christmas period, but the glamping tents had to be taken down due to the cyclone that came through. Construction works at this time of year are very much dependent on the weather, the weather is the only thing that will stop us from re-opening 15 July 2024."
