Reminder: The Rainforest School Severely Impacted by Flooding - please help!

Rainforest School

From the Rainforest School - We need your help!

Last Saturday, a record-breaking flood destroyed our beautiful little school. The schoolhouse was inundated with 800mm of water throughout the entire building. We have lost so much and sadly it has left our students and staff without a place to call home.

The Rainforest School’s greatest need is to resume our educational program and minimise the impact on our students’ learning. We are asking for your support to help us get back on our feet. We need to purchase new resources for our students and set up a temporary educational space until our schoolhouse is repaired. Your support would be invaluable to the education and wellbeing of our students.

This natural disaster has brought home our need to act on our long-term goal: to build our forever home. We are a registered charity with the ACNC and your donation will be tax deductible. We invite you to help us achieve this dream.

Thank you very much!

The Rainforest School Proposal to Lease Frog’s Hollow

The wonderful Rainforest School has coordinated many fundraising initiatives (with their Circus Community Shows coming up next week) to work towards finding their “forever” home. They thank you for your continued support. They would also like to let you know, that The Rainforest School has submitted a proposal to lease land from the Cassowary Coast Regional Council and to relocate their school to Frog's Hollow in South Mission Beach. The next step is consulting with our local community to share their plans and seek feedback.

About The Rainforest School

The Rainforest School was founded in 2018 by two local teachers in response to community interest and demand. The school is small by design and has been operating for 5 years. They teach to the Australian National Curriculum, offering enrolment placements from Year P-6.  Their school values are Community, Conservation, Connection, and Creativity. They invite you to visit their website at www.trs.qld.edu.au to find out more about the school.

It is the School's vision to build a school campus with relocatable historical Queenslanders and using sustainable practices to create a ‘home away from home’ while conserving and/or regenerating the surrounding tropical rainforest and wetlands. Frog's Hollow will offer the perfect setting for The Rainforest School.
