Lovelier Streets coming soon!

Lovelier Streets

Our council is clearing the way for the community to have more control over their verges thanks to a new policy that cuts red tape while offering straightforward rules for planting and standards.

Cassowary Coast Mayor Teresa Millwood hopes that a new Road Verge Maintenance Policy will encourage neighbourhoods to create lovely verges that are easier to manage.

“Through this new policy we’re offering clear guidelines on what kinds of plants can be put on the verge outside properties, and where they can be planted,” Mayor Millwood said.

“It’ll also guide Council to apply uniform standards across the whole region so every neighbourhood benefits from streets that are loved.

Think…..... Bins on Kerb before 6am

Think Yellow 6 am n

Remember... With our new waste collection service provider, here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Bins out before 6am: Ensure your bins are ready for pickup before the early morning hours, or even better place them on the kerb the night before!

  • Separate trucks will collect wet and dry waste: Our new trucks aren't duel storage to prepare for the introduction of kerbside recycling in 2025. So, for now your wet and dry bins will be collected separately.

Phone Council if your bin was missed by the end of the day: The time of your bin collection will likely change, however give us a call at the end of the day (before 4:30pm) so our customer service team can let you know if the truck is still on its way, or action a request if it was missed in the collection route.

For more info and to read FAQs about recycling in 2025, visit Council’s Waste Management Page at https://www.cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au/domestic-waste... or call us at 1300 763 903.
